Projekte Detail EN

Secretary-General of the European Parliament, Luxembourg
New Construction and Renovation Konrad Adenauer Complex

Competition 1st prize

Client: European Parliament, Luxembourg
Service: Architectural services, phases 1 – 6 HOAI
Gross floor area: 266,000 m²

The New Quarter
The rearrangement and redevelopment of the existing, rather fragmented situation creates a clear and representative urban structure. Seen from the outside, the new subdistrict is defined by its six-storey overall height and 18-storey highrise. Inside, a differentiated structure of interlinked buildings and open spaces will be created. The ”Place du Parlament” with the new plenary chamber of the European Parliament provides the starting point. The expansive office and conference spaces are accessible individually and quickly via the network of thoroughfares.

The office spaces can be flexibly arranged for a multitude of workplace concepts; the open load-bearing and building services structures permit the integration of various workplace concepts.
Good solar and sound insulation, light deflection and the option of natural ventilation are offered by the double façade. The combination of active component construction and the use of natural heating and cooling resources results in optimum comfort with low operating costs.

Certifiation
BREEAM Environmental Certification, graded ”Excellent“
